Christmas Music from Handel to David Bowie
The Feuerbach Quartet embarks on a winter journey through the centuries, building anticipation for the holidays: Evergreens like Vivaldi’s “Winter” and Wham!’s “Last Christmas” are just as much a part of the program as Christmas ballet and film music ranging from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” to “Home Alone,” “Harry Potter,” and Disney’s “Frozen.”

The FEUERBACH QUARTET’s handmade arrangements and irrepressible joy of playing blur the boundaries between the Baroque and the modern and make the parallels between classical and pop crystal clear: It seems only natural that Bach’s Christmas Oratorio serves as the overture to “Ice Ice Baby,” which in turn seamlessly transitions into “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie, and is finally followed by Coldplay, Astor Piazzolla, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Edvard Grieg, and Mariah Carey...

THE ENSEMBLE
Four musicians from four different countries who, with breathtaking enthusiasm and an unbridled, sheet-music-free performance, bring together Beethoven, the Beatles, and Dire Straits in a classical string quartet, thereby redefining the concept of “chamber music.”

The FEUERBACH QUARTET succeeds, like no other ensemble, in conveying its pure joy in music directly to the audience. What began in 2014 has now become a sensation on Europe’s concert stages, with more than 100 performances each year: from the Salzburg Festival to Schleswig-Holstein, from Italy to Luxembourg—whether at a philharmonic hall or an open-air festival, they tackle every venue with confidence.
