Bavarian Christmas Cantata
Christmas grounds us, we return to our homeland, meet family and friends, celebrate, enjoy and open our hearts. Christmas connects us with our origins and our roots. The Erding-born musician and composer Andreas Begert also seeks this connection in his work “Vom Himme hoch”, a Christmas musical composition in the Bavarian language.
As soon as the first bars of music sound, a magical journey through the Bavarian musical “winter wonderland” begins: warm, traditional and cordial, but also joyful and with lots of positive energy. Begert playfully combines Zwiefacher and Polka with classical music and many beautiful catchy melodies. The full-blooded musician lets himself be guided entirely by his feelings, writing his music intuitively, from the gut. Emotional, sometimes self-contained, soulful, quiet, then again Bavarian-joyful and rousing. He is less interested in rules. Traditions, in fact, are. The Bavarian dialect in combination with the biblical Christmas story sounds pleasant and familiar to Begert's musical composition.
